Assistant / Trainee Project Quantity Surveyor

They have a new opportunity for an Assistant / Trainee Project Quantity Surveyor based in their Manchester office (Stockport), with regular travel to projects across the country.
Working with their team of professional cost consultants, you will assist their Project Surveyors and clients across a variety of schemes, typically lasting up to 12 months, with values up to £5m.
You will be involved in both Pre and Post Contract duties on a number of projects for their prestigious clients including cost planning, tendering, site valuations, cost reporting, cost management and agreement of final accounts.
You will be actively involved in the full project process from initial client engagement through to the projects successful commercial delivery.

As an Assistant Project Quantity Surveyor, you will have at least 2 years commercial experience and be studying towards a RICS accredited MSc degree in Quantity Surveying.
Experience gained in a private practice consultancy is highly advantageous.
Experience in any of the following key sectors would also be an advantage: retail, high-end restaurants, food and beverage and the health sector.
You will have some experience of assisting in the preparation of tender and contract documentation, managing the cost of change through the design process, acting as Client’s QS at site meetings, supporting the PM, overall cost control and negotiating final accounts.
You are confident and comfortable performing some client facing duties, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
You must be enthusiastic, self-motivated and proactive with a strong can-do attitude and professional work ethic.
You are personally organized and can manage multiple duties at the same time.
You will also be IT literate with a good working knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Office including, as a minimum, Outlook, Excel and Word, together with various file-sharing platforms.

Salary is very much dependent on experience, but as a guide, up to £20K.
