Sister/Charge Nurse

Sister/Charge Nurse (both roles are full-time) to cover the areas of Larne and Belfast

Salary: £37,752 per annum- 40hr day duty position available

There are a number Nursing Homes in the Group located in Northern Ireland.


The Role

The post of Sister/Charge Nurse is that of second in charge and the person will assume the duties of the Manager / Assistant Nurse Manager in her absence


Role Responsibilities:

Responsible to: Nurse Manager

? Care - Act as a 'Named Nurse' for a group of residents.

? Assess, prescribe and evaluate care appropriately.

Using the nursing care plans to show care required and keep this under regular review (minimum quarterly)
? When in charge, undertake to ensure that care to all residents is of a high standard appropriate to their needs
? Use quality assurance tools where appropriate to ensure a high standard of care is maintained.
? Complete accident reports as they occur and report as necessary to the Regulations & Quality Improvement Authority
? Liaise with medical staff, health centre receptionists, chiropodists, hairdressers, physiotherapist and clergy effectively
? Adhere to the NMC Professional Code of Conduct




? General - Be able to re-adjust duty rotas as a result of absences, to maintain staffing levels appropriately


? Be 'on call' for specific times dictated by the Nurse Manager
? Liaise with the Nurse Manager with regard to the disciplinary/grievance matters concerning staff
? Ensure that the patients and residents registers are kept up to date
? Keep good records of when regular test or appointments are due for patients
? Assist the Nurse Manager with duties with regard to inspections
? Ensure that maintenance problems are reported effectively
? Assist with the orientation/induction of new staff
