Salary range: £44,317 - £49,879 per annum per annum + exclusive benefits
Hours: 36.5 hours per week

Who we are

Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) plans, develops and manages an integrated transport system for the West Midlands that is reliable, affordable and accessible for all.

It is the transport arm of the West Midlands Combined Authority

About Network Resilience
The West Midlands transport system is seeing some of its largest investment in recent years with projects being delivered across the region from key partners such as High Speed Two, Highways England, local authorities, Network Rail and Transport for West Midlands.

While this essential investment takes place to meet the demands of a growing population, the Network Resilience directorate aims to keep residents and businesses moving through these works by improving efficiency of the existing network and managing demand to reduce congestion.

With large events such as the Coventry City of Culture 2021 and Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games about to put the West Midlands on the international stage and set to bring millions of extra visitors in to the region, the team are involved in supporting the planning of these events with the aim of providing a seamless travel experience on our integrated transport system.

At the heart of the team is the new Regional Transport Coordination Centre which aims to proactively monitor and support our transport operation while providing customers with more reliable information and choice on their travel options.

With a transformation in data capture and analysis, the centre will prove invaluable, not just in real time incident management, but in planning future congestion-cutting interventions, supporting teams across TfWM and our local authority partners.

Network Resilience is a team of various transport specialisms, working together with our internal and external partners to help keep the West Midlands moving.

Who we need

Working in a fast-paced environment, you must be able to easily translate large volumes of complex information from multiple sources into customer friendly language, to drive behaviour change and ensure people can make informed decisions about their travel planning during times of disruption.

You will be required to build relationships and work collaboratively with communication teams across the West Midlands.

Being approachable, having excellent written, verbal and communication skills, as well as the ability to influence in person, is an absolute must.

We need you to manage and coordinate relationships with a range of partners and stakeholders during high pressure situations, so a calm head and ability to work effectively under pressure is essential.

You must be dynamic and a confident communicator with experience in managing complex communication campaigns, writing copy for various channels, including press releases, creating content for marketing and social media channels and engaging communities via traditional and digital media.

Using your knowledge and background as a communications professional, you will identify opportunities to support or deliver campaigns that support business objectives and report success through your ability to analyse and evaluate effectively.

Leading a team comes naturally to you and you will work closely across all areas of Network Resilience and the wider business to identify opportunities to improve the customer experience and develop partnerships with our key stakeholders.
