Business Engagement Manager - Productivity & Skills
Salary range: £52,916 - £59,556 per annum + excellent benefits
Hours: 36.5 per week
Contract type: Permanent


We now have an exciting opportunity for a Business Engagement Manager in our Productivity & Skills Directorate and are looking for a person with proven business experience to leverage private sector commitment to the WMCA's skills agenda.

The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is a strategic authority working with partners to deliver a stronger West Midlands, with a focus on skills, innovation, transport, economic development and regeneration.

Individual Councils and Local Enterprise Partnerships will still deliver services and retain their identity but on the big decisions we will have the resources to work together.


This is an exciting time for the West Midlands - the Commonwealth Games will be here in 2022, the arrival of HS2 will help make us a world class business location and a new £350m housing deal aims to deliver 215,000 new homes by 2031.

The Productivity and Skills Team
The team focuses on inclusive growth - more local jobs and more local people benefitting from jobs.

To do this we work closely with the regions Universities, colleges and training providers and also employers so that the training matches their skills needs.


About the role
As our business engagement manager you will provide the Productivity & Skills team with a comprehensive business engagement service, across differing complex business environments, whilst managing risk and ensuring the highest standards of communication throughout.

You will plan, monitor and evaluate stakeholder engagement, communications and the team's activities.


To succeed in the role …
You will need a deep functional knowledge of stakeholder liaison with a diverse range of stakeholders.

An excellent knowledge of issues impacting small and large businesses; with solid knowledge of broader communications practise and the ability to build and manage networks.

You will have excellent project management, written and verbal communication skills, to ensure credibility and confidence.
