We have an exciting opportunity for a Strategic Delivery Advisor to join the policy team of our Housing & Regeneration Directorate.

We are looking for a forward-thinking, creative individual who wants to operate at the forefront of our recovery planning.

You will be leading on town centre regeneration and collaborative work with local authorities on local plans.

About Us
The West Midlands has been one of the most promising regions in England with the fastest growing economy outside London; it has been seen as one of the best places to invest; with improved living standards, regional infrastructure was benefiting from huge investment; a rapid expansion in house building; increasing numbers of apprenticeship starts; construction on HS2 ; and the Battery Industrialisation Centre launched in Coventry.

The West Midlands has one of the greatest potentials to grow in 2021 and we are seeking investment in new markets, upskilling our workforce, protecting our environment, strengthening our communities and repositioning the region as a leader in the national economy.

Now more than ever, we need to be innovative and we don't just return to the old ways of working and living.

We already have many of the building blocks in place - we are resetting our thinking, rebuilding our region and reinventing our image as a national leader.

In order to do that, we will listen to our communities and deliver change for the better as a result of what we've experienced.

There is a lot to look forward to - next year the region will host the City of Culture in Coventry; and following that it will be the site of the Commonwealth Games.

These are opportunities to showcase our region to the world.

By joining our Housing & Regeneration Directorate, you will be working on some of the most creative and ambitious policy development agendas in the country and play an integral role in a delivery-orientated organisation.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues within the Policy Team and across the wider Directorate to provide expert policy guidance, advice and insight to help shape the WMCA's thinking on housing, regeneration, economic development, investment and infrastructure.

You will prepare and present papers and briefings to decision-making boards and will work collaboratively with our partners to address those key policy areas of mutual interest in respect of housing and regeneration.

We're looking for someone who is good at building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, has an excellent understanding of planning, regeneration and housing policy and the confidence to think creatively.

We want someone who will think about how new policy initiatives can be applied to increase the scale, pace and quality of development, a ‘can do', real policy maker who delivers day in and day out, works superbly with partners and gets we are creating policy to unlock and accelerate delivery of inclusive growth.

Above all, you will have an in-depth understanding of the national, regional and local policy landscape, with demonstrable facilitation and influencing skills which you can leverage depending on your audience.

This role provides an exciting opportunity for career enhancement in a forward-looking, growing and ambitious organisation.

You will directly contribute to ensuring the WMCA is well-equipped to address key challenges and unlock major opportunity in the region.

In return for your hard work and commitment, we will reward you with a range of competitive and attractive benefits.

We are committed to developing an organisation that is representative of the diverse communities that we serve and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
