About the team

During the calendar year 2017, a total of 1,057 people were killed or seriously injured on roads in the region.

This figure fell marginally in the following year in 2018, to a total of 1,038.

In 2019 the figure fell again to a total of 987, a 6% decrease from the 2015-2017 baseline (an 8% decrease per 100,000 population).

West Midlands Combined Authority have concurrent powers with local authorities for road safety.

This role will form a core part of the team strengthening the fresh approach to the coordinated management of road safety in the region, led by a newly formed regional strategic multi-agency partnership.
