Science Technician - Maidstone

Salary: £18,251 to £20,339 FTE (£15,050 - £16,773.02 pro rata for 190 days) dependent on experience.

The Role

An enthusiastic, flexible and organised Science Technician to join a friendly team.

Working 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am to 4.00pm Friday (37 hours per week), 190 days per academic year.

Reports to the Head of Science and accountable to the Assistant Headteacher.

Key responsibilities include:

? Maintain a safe working environment for students and staff, conscious of all social distancing and COVID working guidance.
? Prepare and supply equipment, solutions and materials requested by teachers to support teaching and learning.

Display any hazards along with safety equipment and safety advice.
? Be prepared to support colleagues and students in lessons.
? Design and make new apparatus, prepare chemical solutions and where necessary arrange for external services to replace apparatus or complete repairs.
? Undertake accurate stock control and provide reports to the Head of Science.
? Disseminate safety information and upkeep of safety equipment.
? Be/train to be a first aider and other duties associated with the role.


Essential Skills & Requirements:

? Successful applicants are subject to a DBS check and satisfactory, relevant, employment references.
? 5 x GCSEs - Mathematics, English, Science C or above
? Experience of similar role and the use of computerised information management system e.g.

SIMS.
? Good communicator and with relevant IT skills e.g.

Outlook, MS Office and MS teams.
