Snr Big Data Engineer - Remote (Data Lakes, SQL, ETL) - UK Home Based

£80k + home working

My client, as award-winning Publishing House in London, is looking for a Senior Software engineer with experience working with big data to join their cutting edge Data Products team, working with machine learning and leveraging their data lake and in-house analytics platform.

This role is based predominantly at home and limited travel to London is needed once they return to a new normal.

The team is made up of engineers and data scientists.

They are friendly, highly collaborative and they design and maintain their own solutions as a team, from concept to deployment - including monitoring and reporting - using a combination of technologies.

The Snr Big Data Engineer will haveprevious experience working in an agile environment, ideally with prior experience working in cross functional squads, who can help mentor and support the team through scoping, planning, estimation and developing solutions.

We are looking for someone able to leverage their experience working with software development and big data to design, build and deploy solutions and ensure they plan work effectively and that appropriate documentation, schemas, tests and testing strategies are in place to support the products they develop and maintain.

Knowledge of one or more of Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, GoLang
Experience with Big Data, Data Modelling and Data Architecture and ability to explain data layers to other engineers, data sciences and to external stakeholders
Experience with SQL and databases e.g.

AWS Athena, Google BigQuery, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch
Experience deploying services to AWS e.g.CloudFormation, EC2, ASG, Lambda, Kinesis, Docker, Drone
Experience with one or more web reporting systems is beneficial e.g.

AWS QuickSight, Google Data Studio, e
