School Nurse (Full or Part Time) - South West London

Salary: £31,000 - £32,000 term time

The Company

Our Client is school for boys and girls aged 4 - 18 in the London area.

The Role

A full-time or part-time School Nurse to provide first aid and emergency care and treatment as necessary during term time.

Any extra hours worked at fixtures on weekends/evenings/holidays (e.g.

tournaments) will be payable in addition at an hourly rate via timesheets.

Responsibilities include:

? Check that every pupil has a completed medical form in their file and keep up to date
? Be aware of and follow recommended safe storage, usage and disposal of medical supplies and drugs
? Provide first aid and emergency care and treatment as necessary
? Maintain and account for treatment room stock, hygiene and tidiness
? Stock, maintain and account for first aid boxes around the school every half term and for trips / activities.
? Provide a list of First Aiders and a list of locations of first aid boxes around the school
? Promote health education throughout the School population
? Keep up-to-date with current health promotion initiatives
? Maintain medical records (SIMs/Day Book) accurately, confidentially and safely
? Record the dispensing of drugs following drug protocols
? Provide a list of children with severe allergies/epipens and post in relevant areas around the school
? Check daily Absence list and monitor absences for patterns, groups etc.
? Liaise with Trip Co-ordinators, PE Teachers and parents about medical issues prior to any trips or sporting fixtures
? Inform staff on all trips about allergies or medical issues
? Provide training to staff going on school trips regarding severe medical issues e.g.

Epilepsy, diabetes and use of epipens
? Handle accidents including sports injuries
? Maintain records and the School's accident report book
? Participate in pastoral care, liaising with teaching staff, parents and guardians
? Communicate effect
