As Front-End Developer, you will join the Digital & Data Team and deliver innovative, user-centric, evidence-based web software as part of a fast-paced multi-discipline digital product team.
What will you be doing?
, Deliver front-end development of web-based platforms
, Ensure software developments meet public sector organisation accessibility regulations
, Work closely with visual designers to develop new user-facing features and ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
, Keep abreast of new industry and market trends and developments
, Create and maintain technical documentation for code that has been written
, Explain, discuss, and justify development decisions
, Able to help fix bugs/issues following agreed procedures
, Assists as part of a team on design of components of larger systems
, Discuss user interface functionality solutions with colleagues and clients and provide innovative new ideas
, Build reusable code and libraries for future use
, Integrate data from various back-end services, APIs, and databases
, Optimize application(s) for maximum speed and scalability
, Provide training to other non-technical staff, such as content editors
, Develop and test cross-browser and cross-platform compatible front-end solutions whilst applying methods for degrading gracefully for older browsers and devices
, Collaboration with other team members and stakeholders
You'll have experience in designing and developing websites and be able to demonstrate technical capability in the following:
, Translating designs and wireframes into high-quality code
, A version control system such as GIT or Bitbucket
, Content Management System (CMS) such as Umbraco
, Ability to write good documentation
, AngularJS (1.x)
, Strong experience using RESTful APIs in web software
In addition, you'll have experience and understanding of:
, Working with linting tools such as ESLint / Prettier
, Using node build processes such as Gulp
, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA
, Building single-page applications (SPA's)
, Developing using a Content Delivery Networks (CDN)
, Using JSON web tokens for authentication in single-page apps
, Familiarity with RESTful APIs that use bearer and refresh tokens
