Thrive at Work is a workplace commitment that promotes employee health and wellbeing, focusing on key organisational enablers such as attendance management, policies and procedures in addition to health areas such as mental, musculoskeletal and physical health and promoting healthy lifestyles.

It is designed to maximise the employee potential and drive bottom-line results through reduced sickness absence, improved retention, increased resilience and more productivity, helping to create a healthier and happier workforce.


As our Engagement Manager, you will be our lead champion for good workplace and workforce wellbeing, heading up a small but perfectly formed team to deliver the Thrive at Work programme.

The engagement arm of the programme team is primarily focused on registering employers for Thrive at Work, who are then supported through the programme by the accreditation arm of the team.

Collectively, this works as a seamless unit that drives systematic improvements in workplace wellbeing.


You will design and deliver an effective engagement strategy to promote Thrive at Work and the wider wellbeing agenda, managing the team to deliver the strategy and demonstrate impact.

You will have the ability and authority to respond to challenges, and you will set the future direction of travel with regards to continued employer engagement in workforce wellbeing, thereby contributing to the successful development of the wider programme.


What will you be doing?


, Be accountable for employer engagement activity across the Thrive at Work team
, Lead, manage and empower the Thrive at Work engagement sub-team
, Develop and implement an effective engagement strategy, managing strategic revisions as and when necessary
, Ensure the communications and marketing strategy is fit for purpose and kept up to date
, Manage the production of a range of engagement (comms, marketing) resources
, Develop and implement a system for tracking employer engagement (i.e.

a form of CRM)
, Build and maintain a range of external strategic relationships (e.g.

with employer representative organisations, programme research collaborative and funders etc.)
, Represent the Thrive at Work programme and team at events and through related promotional activities, being a champion for the wider workplace and workforce agendas
, Contribute towards the continual development of the Thrive programme and wider wellbeing agenda


About you


We're looking for someone with the leadership skills needed to motivate and manage a small team in a challenging time, ensuring the timely delivery of objectives.

You'll be comfortable working strategically and innovatively to design an actionable strategy and to access wider or harder-to-reach audiences, as well as tactically, in a hands-on capacity, to deliver employer engagement initiatives that raise the profile of the programme and deliver optimum results.


The role would suit someone who has experience in a business development/new business management role.

An understanding of the regional employer/business stakeholder landscape would be of significant benefit.


Strong organisational skills, excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to inform and confidently persuade key stakeholders, a genuine passion for health and wellbeing and the desire to learn and develop are needed.


Previous experience of managing and/or implementing an employer engagement strategy at pace and at scale would be a real advantage.


As this is a fixed-term contract until June 2022, our preference is those who are immediately available following selection.
