Backend Developer

Backend Developer - Brighton or Remote

Salary: £32,000 - £35,000 (Based on experience)

Our client is an award-winning games publishing agency.

They have been around for 13 years and work in three main areas within the industry: Communications, Business Intelligence and Marketing.

The Role:

Our client is looking to recruit a Backend Developer to join their multinational team.

The ideal candidate is a Backend Developer with expertise developing and maintaining services and server infrastructure to be used by frontend applications in a fully distributed fashion.

You will be joining a close-knit team of people from all over the world.

Role Responsibilities:

? Working in close collaboration with a small strike-team of developers across a range of tools
? Maintaining server infrastructure for existing and future tools
? Authoring Pull Requests, owning the backend structure for the projects you work on
? Providing development support to the existing tool (developed in Elixir) and help expanding it in the future
? Playing and testing videogames as needed

Essential Skills & Requirements:

? At least 2 years of experience in a similar role
? Knowledge of NodeJS, Elixir or other backend languages
? Experience with managing and monitoring Linux server nodes
? Comfortable with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL...)
? Experience with functional programming principles/languages (Haskell, F#)
? Experience with Elasticsearch or related technologies
? Experience with functional-style back-end languages like Elixir, Scala or Haskell
? Happy to multitask between projects as needed
? Knowledge of working with distributed systems
? Knowledge and appreciation of software engineering practices such as code review, source control, continuous integration and testing
? Fluent English is required to communicate with the team
